Carpets of color on top of the iconic MURA set a
NEW Record for the Guiness Book of World Records

Lucca broke into the record books today with more than 4 kilometers of images celebrating Lucca’s traditions, events and art throughout the year.
Over the span of just 10 hours on August 22, 2026, volunteers working under a gorgeous blue sky, carefully created murals on the pavement by hand, using flowers, vegetables and colored sawdust, to create beautiful images
To the amazement and joy of walkers, bicyclists and joggers who watched the painstaking process, artists from all over Italy joined together to create the images in just 10 hours.
Named the “Festival of Ephemeral Arts, the Guinness Edition” the event was spearheaded by the Association of Sawdust Carpets of Camaiore, a name that does little to express how beautiful the murals that they created actually were.
