Gorgeous new Hostel Opens in Lucca

Lucca Hostel & Rooms San Frediano has a total of 141 beds among 30 rooms of various types, 22 with en-suite bathrooms and 8 with shared bathrooms. The cost per bed ranges from 40 to 48 euros.

RISTOGEST, the concessionary company which manages the property, as well as a hostel in Lecco on Lake Como, hopes that

Hostel & Rooms San Frediano will become a gathering point for Lucca’s citizens, not just for its guests.

The totally renovated restaurant will be open to the public, according to Luca Locatelli, administrator, and to further strengthen its commitment to enhance the city’s heritage, Lucca Hostel & Rooms San Frediano is permanently hosting an interactive tourist information point with informational materials, maps, and merchandise related to the city.

After seven years of rigorous renovation, the building is now certified as ultra-modern in every way, while still retaining important historical architectural features.

The opening of the Lucca Hostel & Rooms intentionally coincides with the 59th edition of the Lucca Comics & Games. For the occasion, the external and internal spaces of the Hostel will host the Red Bull Energy Zone with a rich program of activities. Competition for the Red Bull Tetris® National Final, will take place at the Hostel.  The event will select who qualifies as the Italian champion of Tetris, who will represent Italy at the World Finals in Dubai at the end of the year. Lucca Hostel & Rooms San Frediano believes this program will establish it as a hub for future innovative, engaging, and international events.

The interventions to the structure have included laying over 80 km of cable and numerous other improvements, including:

• installation of air conditioning system in all rooms;

• an important network infrastructure and Wi-Fi connection with free and unlimited access for guests thanks to 19 access points;
• provision of a home automation system to control room access and temperature regulation

The units are located on three levels with an elevator:

• 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and 43” TV;

• 8 “duplex” apartments with 3 beds arranged on 2 levels (living area with 43” TV on the first level and sleeping area with en-suite bathroom on the upper level);
• 1 “duplex” with 6 beds organized on 2 levels (living area with 43” TV on the first level and sleeping area with en-suite bathroom on the upper level);
• 16 multiple rooms with 4/6/8 beds, especially suitable for groups and families.

On the ground floor there are two rooms (one double, the other a multiple room sleeping 6) with bathrooms and spaces fully accessible to people with disabilities.

All beds, tailor-made in metal and wood, are equipped with:

• personal LED lighting;

• USB and USB-C presence;
• private locker;
• locker chest of drawers.

All guests are provided with bed linen, towels and a courtesy kit.

There is also an independent heating apartment, complete with

• living area with equipped kitchen;

• 1 double bedroom;
• 1 quadruple room;
• 1 bathroom;
• 1 laundry room.

The apartment was designed to also accommodate artist residencies, responding to the growing number of creatives, both Italian and international, who choose to work in Lucca to draw inspiration from its rich artistic and cultural heritage.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in November 2025, while the garden, in the warmer months, will inaugurate a rich program of activities and events open to the city, thus bringing the facility to full capacity.
