Lucca’s celebration of stars and the night returns for the 5th edition of “E Lucevan le stelle” on the night of the shooting stars: Monday, August 10th, the Feast of San Lorenzo.
Live music will be performed for free atop the city’s renowned renaissance walls by jazz and blues musicians, classical instrumentalists and opera singers, while dancing the tango on the baluardi will be encouraged as well.
Reaching from Baluardo della Libertà to Baluardo San Paolino, spectators will be able to stroll at will and enjoy the music under the stars. To offer a closer view of the stars, the tree-topped Torre Guinigi and medieval Torre delle Ore will remain open until midnight, with discounted admission.
This event makes the walls come to life at night, helping thousands of citizens and tourists celebrate the city’s beauty and lovely weather — a great relief from the daytime heat of August and a point of pride for the Pardini administration which created the festival.
